Sen. Royce West:
Lajuana D. Barton:

It is with great humility and with honor that I write to you to personally express my deep and sincere gratitude and appreciation. Early on I always had a fund love and appreciation for architecture, but I really did not have an idea as to exactly what I wanted to do and how. Through your generosity, support, and ingenuity in establishing the Emmett J. Conrad Internship Program, my career and passion was further developed and blossomed in the design and construction field. It was through this experience and working with Con-Real that I gained valuable experience that equipped me with tools and skills that would continue to perpetuate success for me and others. My experiences included but were not limited to learning how to dress for success, developing confidence, open communication, power of networking, philanthropy, and the value of continuing education. I was exposed to and worked alongside Con-Real, AT&T, Trammel Crow, CBRE, University of Houston Downtown, Pearland Independent School District, and my alma mater, Prairie View A&M University.

It is also with great pride that I inform you that I am returning to Prairie View as the Director of Campus Planning and Space Management for the entire Prairie View A&M University System. In this new role I will have charge and responsibility over all facilities and new construction. So thank you for your investment in me and others and for allowing me the experiences I was afforded. Your work and efforts and that of your staff have produced results for me and others that are irreplaceable. Thank you again and I too look forward to continuing to succeed and reaching back to expose and help others as well.
